وأوضحت وكالة البيئة البريطانية، أن حالة الجفاف شملت نحو نصف أنحاء البلاد، ما أدى إلى تراجع منسوب الأنهار، وزيادة مخاطر حرائق الغابات، وفرض قيود على استخدام المياه.
وحذرت من أن استمرار الجفاف للعام الثاني على التوالي خلال فصل الصيف ستكون له آثار واسعة على البيئة والحياة الفطرية والاقتصاد.
