Saudi-Colombian talks in Riyadh to enhance joint cooperation

Today, the Saudi capital, Riyadh, witnessed an important diplomatic movement aimed at strengthening Saudi openness to influential international powers across different continents, as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Member of the Council of Ministers and Climate Envoy, Mr. Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, received at the Ministry headquarters the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia, Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio Mape.

These talks come at a time when Saudi diplomacy is witnessing remarkable activity aimed at diversifying strategic partnerships and expanding cooperation with Latin American countries, in a way that serves common interests and enhances the Kingdom’s presence on the international stage.

Strengthening and developing bilateral relations

The two ministers held extensive talks, during which they reviewed the deep-rooted relations between the two friendly countries. The discussions went beyond protocol, delving into ways to further develop and enhance these relations across various political and economic fields. This approach aligns with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to build strong bridges of communication with countries around the world and capitalize on mutual investment and trade opportunities.

Cooperation on climate and environment issues

Given that Mr. Adel Al-Jubeir is the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, environmental and climate issues received particular attention during the meeting. Colombia is a country rich in biodiversity, which opens up broad prospects for cooperation with the Kingdom on its ambitious green initiatives, such as the "Saudi Green Initiative" and the "Green Middle East" initiative. The two sides discussed ways to unify international efforts to address climate challenges and exchange expertise in the fields of renewable energy and environmental conservation.

International developments

On the political front, the two sides discussed key regional and international developments of mutual interest. They emphasized the importance of diplomatic coordination and support for international efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in various conflict zones. This discussion reflects the pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a pillar of stability in the Middle East, and Colombia's commitment to strengthening political dialogue with influential global powers.

At the conclusion of the meeting, which was attended by the Director General of the Office of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Khalid bin Musaed Al-Anqari, the two sides agreed on the need to continue communication and coordination to translate these discussions into practical steps that serve the people of both countries.
