Eid al-Fitr celebrations kick off in 7 major cities in the Eastern Province

The Director General of Media at the Eastern Province Municipality, Faisal Al-Zahrani, revealed details of the Eid Al-Fitr celebrations that will illuminate the region's skies. The festive events will take place in seven major cities: Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail, Ras Tanura, Khafji, and Qatif. These celebrations reflect the municipality's commitment to providing a comprehensive entertainment experience for residents and visitors during the joyous Eid holidays.

The cultural and historical context of Eid celebrations in the Eastern Province

Historically, the Eastern Province has been a leading tourist destination in Saudi Arabia during holidays and vacations, thanks to its strategic location on the Arabian Gulf coast, its advanced infrastructure, and its stunning waterfronts. Eid al-Fitr celebrations in Saudi Arabia have a unique character, blending tradition and modernity. Customs of joy and family gatherings are passed down through generations, and modern events enhance this spirit by offering entertainment suitable for all family members, making the Eastern Province a major attraction for domestic tourism and a favorite destination for families.

8 hours of continuous entertainment daily

Al-Zahrani explained that the events will run daily for eight hours, starting at 4:00 PM and continuing until midnight, extending until the fourth day of Eid. The Eid program has been meticulously designed to suit all age groups, from children and youth to the elderly, with ample space and special attention given to children to bring joy and happiness to their hearts. The entertainment package is diverse, including folk performances reflecting authentic Saudi heritage, interactive theaters, dedicated children's areas, and a variety of musical performances to satisfy all tastes.

The “We Are All Khafji” Festival and its regional and economic impact

In an exceptional move, Al-Zahrani announced the launch of the tenth edition of the “We Are All Khafji” Festival, which will begin on the third day of Eid and continue for ten consecutive days. This festival holds significant economic and tourism importance, and is expected to attract a large audience not only from within the region but also from visitors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, particularly from the sisterly State of Kuwait, given the geographical proximity and close social ties. This regional influx directly contributes to stimulating commercial activity and supporting the accommodation and tourism sectors, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to enhance quality of life and develop the domestic tourism sector.

Waterfronts account for the largest share

The Eastern Province Municipality confirmed that the waterfront areas will host the majority of events, with King Abdullah Park on the Dammam Corniche hosting the municipality's main activities. The General Directorate of Community Engagement will also organize a special children's event at the park in the Al-Badi'a district of Dammam, providing families with multiple options for enjoying themselves outdoors amidst green spaces.

Early security and organizational coordination to ensure the safety of visitors

Regarding organizational and security matters, Al-Zahrani explained that the municipality had coordinated early and extensively with security authorities and relevant partners to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of visitors at all celebration sites. He emphasized that these tremendous efforts were undertaken in accordance with the directives of His Royal Highness the Prince of the Eastern Province and His Royal Highness the Deputy Prince, and with direct and continuous on-site follow-up from His Excellency the Mayor of the Eastern Province, Engineer Fahd Al-Jubair, to ensure that the Eid al-Fitr celebrations were presented in the most splendid manner befitting the region's stature and its esteemed visitors.
