20 relief trucks from the King Salman Center arrive in Hadramawt

A new aid convoy consisting of 20 trucks, provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, arrived today, Monday, in Al-Abr district of Hadramawt Governorate in Yemen. This convoy is part of a series of land and air bridges launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of the brotherly Yemeni people, carrying with it a message of fraternal solidarity and direct support for affected families.

Details of relief aid

The trucks that arrived in Hadramawt carried large quantities of essential supplies that are urgently needed. The aid includes complete food baskets that meet a family's nutritional needs, as well as quantities of dates. In terms of shelter, the convoy included shelter kits and tents for those affected and displaced. This aid targets the most vulnerable families in the region, aiming to alleviate their suffering and provide them with a decent life amidst the difficult living conditions the country is experiencing.

Historical context and the Kingdom's leading role

This support is not a one-off event, but rather an extension of a long-standing approach adopted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting Yemen for decades. This approach was formalized and organized through the establishment of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in 2015. Since then, the Kingdom has been at the forefront of donor countries to Yemen, with the Center implementing hundreds of projects encompassing food security, health, shelter, water, sanitation, and education. These efforts stem from the historical, geographical, and social ties that bind the two brotherly nations, and from the Kingdom's commitment to the stability of Yemen and the well-being of its people.

Strategic importance and expected impact

This aid is particularly important given the strategic location of Al-Abr district in Hadramawt Governorate, a vital transit point and refuge for many displaced people fleeing conflict zones. The arrival of these trucks is expected to contribute to:

  • Relieving local pressure: Helping local authorities in Hadhramaut to accommodate the needs of displaced people and the host community.
  • Enhancing food security: Bridging the food gap for thousands of families, thus reducing the risk of malnutrition.
  • Providing decent shelter: Protecting families from exposure and harsh weather conditions by providing tents and shelter kits.

This ongoing assistance confirms the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and moral commitment to Yemen, and its constant endeavor to alleviate the severity of the humanitarian crisis, in line with international standards and the principles of the United Nations in relief work.
