
From Monday to Friday, thunderstorms of varying intensity are expected across most regions of the Kingdom
This is according to a report issued bythe National Center for Meteorology, which indicated that a wide range of regions and governorates will be affected by this rainy weather system, accompanied by several associated weather phenomena.
The center explained that the situation includes the Madinah region, where moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in the governorates of Madinah, Al-Ula, Khaybar, Al-Ais and Wadi Al-Fara on Monday, April 20, and will affect them again on Thursday, April 23, while the governorates of Al-Mahd and Al-Hanakiya will witness moderate to heavy rainfall during the period from Monday, April 20 until Friday, April 24.
Rain in Hail and Qassim
In the Qassim, the rainy conditions will affect the cities and governorates of Buraidah, Unaizah, Ar-Rass, Al-Bukayriyah, Al-Badai, Riyadh Al-Khabra, Uyun Al-Jawa, Al-Muthnib, Ash-Shamasiyah, Al-Asyah, Abanat, Uqlat As-Suqur, An-Nabhaniah, and Dhariyah, where moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to continue from Monday, April 20, to Friday, April 24, with the peak impact expected on Thursday, April 23, and Friday, April 24.
The weather system will continue to affect the Riyadh region, including the city of Riyadh and the governorates of Al-Dilam, Al-Muzahmiya, Dhurma, Marat, Al-Qiddiya, Ad-Diriyah, Ar-Rayn, Al-Hariq, Al-Kharj, Hawtat Bani Tamim, Afif, Ad-Dawadmi, Al-Quway'iyah, Al-Ghat, Az-Zulfi, Al-Majma'ah, Shaqra, Thadiq,
Huraymila, and Rumah. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected from Monday, April 20, until Friday, April 24, with the intensity increasing on Thursday, April 23, and Friday, April 24. In the Northern Borders region, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in the governorates of Rafha and Al-Uwayqilah on Monday, April 20, and Tuesday, April 21, with rain returning to these areas on Friday, April 24. Rain is also expected in the governorates of Arar and Tarif on Friday, April 24.
Moderate rain in the Eastern Province
The weather system also includes the Eastern Province, where the governorates of Dammam, Jubail, Ras Tanura, Qatif, Khobar, Abqaiq, Hafr Al-Batin, Al-Nairiyah, Qaryat Al-Ulya, Al-Udayd, Al-Ahsa, and Khafji
are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall from Monday, April 20, to Friday, April 24. In the Tabuk region, moderate to heavy rain is forecast for the governorate of Tayma on Thursday, April 23, and Friday, April 24, while the city of Tabuk and the governorate of Haql are expected to receive light to moderate rain during the same period.
In the Al-Jawf region, the governorates of Qurayyat, Tabarjal, Dumat Al-Jandal, and Sakaka are expected to experience light to moderate rain from Tuesday, April 21, to Friday, April 24, with the intensity expected to increase to moderate to heavy on Friday, April 24.
Varying amounts of rain in the Makkah region
In the Makkah region, light to moderate rain is expected in the governorates of Turabah, Al-Muwayh, Al-Khurmah, and Ranyah from Monday, April 20th to Wednesday, April 22nd, becoming moderate to heavy on Thursday, April 23rd and Friday, April 24th. Moderate to heavy rain is also expected in the governorates of Taif, Maysan, Adham, and Al-Ardiyat from Wednesday, April 22nd to Friday, April 24th. Light to moderate rain is expected in Makkah, Al-Jumum, and Al-Kamil on Friday, April 24th.
The Al-Baha region is experiencing moderate to heavy rain in the governorates of Al-Baha, Al-Mandaq, Baljurashi, Bani Hassan, Al-Qura, Qalwah, Al-Makhwah, Al-Hajrah, and Ghamid Al-Zanad from Wednesday, April 22nd to Friday, April 24th, with increased intensity expected on Thursday, April 23rd and Friday, April 24th.
The weather system also extends to the Asir region, encompassing Abha, Khamis Mushait, Ahad Rafidah, Sarat Abidah, Dhahran Al Janoub, Tarib, Al Harjah, Al Farsha, Bisha, Tathlith, Al Namas, Tanomah, Rijal Alma, Bariq, Muhayil Asir, Al Majardah, and Balqarn, where moderate to heavy rainfall is expected from Wednesday, April 22nd to Friday, April 24th.
In the Jazan region, the system will affect the governorates of Al Reeth, Haroub, Al Dayer, Al Aydabi, Fifa, Al Aridhah, and Al Harth, with moderate to heavy rainfall expected from Wednesday, April 22nd to Friday, April 24th. Meanwhile, the Najran region will be affected by moderate to heavy rainfall on Friday, April 24th, including the city of Najran and the governorates of Badr Al Janoub, Habuna, Yadmah, Thar, and Khubash.
The report indicated that the rainy conditions may be accompanied by active downdrafts that stir up dust and sand, flash floods, hail, and high waves in coastal areas. Initial forecasts also indicate continued chances of rainfall in most regions of the Kingdom until the end of next week. The report called on everyone to follow the ongoing reports and updates through its official platforms and the “Anwaa” application, and to adhere to the instructions of the concerned authorities in order to preserve public safety.
