Under the patronage and in the presence of the Director General of Education in the Makkah Region, Mr. Abdullah bin Saad Al-Ghannam, the activities of the “Positive Practices Supporting School Excellence” forum were launched on Tuesday. The forum will continue for two days with wide participation including more than 1,500 educational leaders, supervisors, and school principals at various educational levels.
The objectives of the forum and its importance in developing education
The forum primarily aims to create an interactive platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge among those working in the field of education, and to highlight effective field practices that have proven successful in improving the educational environment and raising the quality of school performance. The forum also seeks to promote a culture of excellence and innovation, and to motivate education professionals to adopt and implement innovative initiatives by showcasing real-world experiences that have had a tangible positive impact on improving educational outcomes.
In his opening remarks, Al-Ghannam welcomed the participants, emphasizing that “excellence is not granted, but rather built through the accumulation of efforts, the integration of roles, and the investment of professional energies in continuous development paths based on mastery, initiative, and a sense of responsibility.” He pointed out that this forum embodies a conscious institutional approach to empowering the educational field, highlighting its qualitative efforts, and strengthening its role as an active partner in building a more mature and efficient educational system.
Broader context: The forum as a tool for achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This forum is being organized amidst the major transformations taking place in the education sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which align with the objectives of Vision 2030 and the Human Capital Development Program. The Vision emphasizes the need to build an education system that contributes to driving economic growth and equipping future generations with the knowledge and skills necessary for the jobs of tomorrow. Hence, the importance of such forums as local implementation tools becomes clear, as they translate national strategies into practical applications within classrooms and schools, ensuring keeping pace with rapid changes and creating the desired positive transformation.
Scientific topics that keep pace with modern developments
The first day of the forum featured specialized sessions reflecting modern trends in education. The first session discussed the use of big data and artificial intelligence in educational decision-making, while the second session addressed the development of remedial units to address learning loss. The third session focused on best practices in impact measurement. The second day's events continued with sessions showcasing innovative initiatives to improve English reading skills, foster linguistic creativity in Arabic, and promote mathematics and engineering education, as well as the design of interactive learning environments, thus covering multiple aspects of the educational process.
Expected impact of the forum
The forum is expected to contribute to a positive shift in the educational field in Makkah by providing participants with practical models and tools that can be immediately applied. In the long term, the forum aims to solidify the school's position as a productive environment for positive impact and a catalyst for qualitative transformation, which will positively affect students' academic achievement and the development of their personal skills, and contribute to achieving institutional excellence at the level of educational administration as a whole.
