King Salman Relief Center distributes winter clothing in Taiz, Yemen

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the brotherly Yemeni people, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center implementing its impactful relief programs. Yesterday, the Center distributed 947 vouchers for winter clothing in the Al-Aifou' area of Al-Mawasit District, Taiz Governorate. This initiative benefited 947 individuals from displaced families and the most vulnerable members of the host community, reflecting the Center's commitment to meeting the basic needs of those affected.

The “Kanaf” project: A mechanism to preserve dignity

This aid is part of the 2026 Winter Clothing Distribution Project (Kanaf) in the Republic of Yemen. The project is distinguished by its innovative voucher system, which allows beneficiaries the freedom to choose suitable winter clothing for themselves and their children from approved stores, rather than receiving pre-packaged parcels that may not fit their sizes or preferences. This mechanism aims to preserve the dignity of beneficiaries and accurately meet their actual needs, thus enhancing the psychological and social impact of the assistance provided.

Winter challenges in the Yemeni highlands

This initiative is of paramount importance given its timing and geographical location. Taiz Governorate, with its mountainous terrain, experiences a sharp drop in temperatures during the winter. Displaced people in these areas, often living in camps lacking even the most basic heating, suffer from the harsh cold, which threatens the health of children and the elderly. Therefore, providing winter clothing is a crucial first line of defense against winter illnesses and respiratory infections, which are exacerbated by the scarcity of medical resources. This makes the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's intervention a lifeline for many families.

The Kingdom's leading role in humanitarian work

This distribution is part of a long series of projects implemented by the Kingdom through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, which has consistently provided assistance to Yemen across various sectors since its establishment, including food security, health, shelter, and water and sanitation. These efforts underscore the Kingdom's commitment to standing with the Yemeni people in their time of need and alleviating the humanitarian suffering caused by the current crisis through sustainable and urgent projects that reach those in need across all Yemeni governorates without discrimination.
