Registration for the Basta Khair 2 initiative in Jeddah: Support for productive families

The Jeddah Municipality announced the start of registration for the second season of the "Basta Khair" initiative, a prominent community initiative coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative is scheduled to begin on the seventh day of Ramadan and will continue daily until the twenty-seventh, providing a vital marketing opportunity during the peak Ramadan season.

Target groups and social dimension

The second edition of “Basta Khair 2” focuses primarily on supporting the most vulnerable groups in society. The initiative targets divorced women, widows, social security beneficiaries, productive families, people with disabilities capable of working, and beneficiaries of charitable organizations. This step aims to transform these groups from recipients of aid to active participants in development, empowering them to become self-reliant by providing them with organized sales platforms, either free of charge or at nominally subsidized rates.

Reviving Ramadan traditions in a civilized manner

This initiative holds particular significance within the context of Jeddah's local culture, as Ramadan stalls are deeply ingrained in the collective memory of Jeddah's historical residents. These traditional markets and stalls were an integral part of Ramadan nights in the Al-Balad district and the old souks. Through this initiative, the Jeddah Municipality aims to revitalize this popular heritage in a modern and organized manner, preserving the city's aesthetic appeal and eliminating the haphazardness that previously characterized unregulated stalls. This approach blends the authenticity of the past with the quality of modern life.

Integrated environment and logistics services in Al Salamah district

The Secretariat ensured an ideal working environment for participants, allocating a strategic location in the Al-Salamah district to host the event. According to the organizational plan, the initiative provides more than 30 fully equipped stalls, where participants receive comprehensive essential services including:

  • Electrical connections and adequate lighting for nighttime operations.
  • Uniform signage that reflects the visual identity of the initiative and adds an aesthetic touch.
  • An organized environment that takes into account health and municipal requirements to ensure the safety of the products on display.

Supporting the local economy and Vision 2030

The Director General of Community Service at the Municipality, Majid bin Omar Al-Sulami, explained that the “Basta Khair” initiative, in its second season, will see an expansion in participation. These efforts directly contribute to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 , which encourages support for small and micro enterprises and promotes a culture of entrepreneurship. By enabling productive families to display their products in a safe and attractive environment for visitors, the initiative helps increase their income and stimulate local commerce during the holy month, thus strengthening social solidarity and the micro-economic cycle within neighborhoods.
