King Salman Center's aid to Yemen: Comprehensive shelter, medical, and food support

As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the brotherly Yemeni people, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid to implement a series of vital projects covering shelter, medical and food aspects in several Yemeni governorates, in response to increasing needs and to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the current crisis.
Urgent shelter support for displaced people in Marib
A large aid convoy dispatched by the center arrived in Marib Governorate, carrying 1,440 shelter kits and 1,680 tents. This aid is part of the fifth phase of the Emergency Shelter Plan project in Yemen, aimed at providing dignified shelter for displaced families.
This step is of paramount importance given the unique situation of Marib Governorate, which has become the largest gathering place for internally displaced persons in Yemen during the years of conflict. UN and local reports indicate that Marib has received hundreds of thousands of families fleeing conflict zones, placing immense pressure on infrastructure and basic services, and making the provision of shelter a top priority to protect families from harsh weather and difficult living conditions.

A qualitative leap in medical services in Hadramawt
On the health front, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center inaugurated a shockwave lithotripsy unit at the Specialized Center for Kidney and Urological Surgery in Wadi Hadramawt. This inauguration is part of a project to provide medical equipment to specialized centers, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health and Population.
Dr. Hani Al-Amoudi, Director of the Ministry of Public Health and Population Office in Wadi Hadramawt, expressed his appreciation for this generous support, emphasizing that providing such high-quality equipment represents a vital addition to the health infrastructure, which has been severely damaged by the war. He explained that this unit will directly contribute to localizing treatment, thus reducing the exorbitant financial burden that patients previously had to bear traveling abroad or to distant governorates to receive this specialized service.
Enhancing food security
In parallel with medical and shelter efforts, the center distributed 4,700 food baskets in the Al-Sum and Sayun districts of Hadramawt Governorate, benefiting 32,900 individuals, as part of its emergency food assistance project. This project aims to combat food insecurity, which threatens large segments of the Yemeni population, and ensure food reaches those most in need.
General context and expected impact
This diverse aid comes as an extension of the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has topped the list of donor countries to Yemen since the outbreak of the crisis. These efforts reflect a comprehensive strategy that goes beyond immediate relief to include support for vital sectors such as health and shelter to ensure the sustainability of services.
These interventions are expected to contribute to:
- Improving the living conditions of thousands of displaced families in Marib and protecting them from the elements.
- Improving the efficiency of the health sector in Hadhramaut and reducing waiting lists for surgical operations.
- Enhancing social stability by providing food security for needy families.
