The Muslim World League supports Saudi Arabia's statement regarding the Southern Transitional Council
The Muslim World League announced its full solidarity and absolute support for the supplementary statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which addressed the escalatory steps taken by the Southern Transitional Council in the governorates of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra, in addition to the statement issued by the leadership of the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen regarding monitoring the movements of ships loaded with weapons and heavy vehicles coming from the port of Fujairah to the port of Mukalla without prior coordination.
The context of the crisis and the importance of stability in Yemen
This stance comes at a sensitive time for the Yemeni conflict, as Saudi Arabia, as leader of the Arab Coalition, seeks to unify Yemeni ranks to confront the major challenges posed by the Houthi coup. The governorates of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra hold immense strategic and geopolitical importance due to their geographical location and large size, making any military or security escalation within them a direct threat to the stability of liberated areas and hindering the legitimate government's efforts to extend its authority and provide services to citizens.
Details of the situation and statements by the Secretary-General
In a statement issued by the Muslim World League's General Secretariat, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the League and Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, commended the wise content of the Saudi statement. Al-Issa affirmed that the League, with all its international assemblies and bodies, stands united with the Kingdom in its measures aimed at preserving its national security and the security of the region. He pointed out that unauthorized movements, such as the transfer of weapons without permits from the Joint Forces Command, constitute a serious violation of the agreed-upon mechanisms within the coalition and lead to confusion on the ground.
The Southern Issue and Peaceful Solutions
The League stressed that resolving outstanding issues, including the “just cause of the South,” cannot be achieved through imposing a fait accompli or military escalation, but rather through constructive dialogue within the agreed-upon legal and legitimate frameworks, and under the auspices of the Coalition. The statement warned that illegitimate practices only serve the enemies of Yemen and deepen internal divisions, potentially igniting a disastrous conflict for which the Yemeni people, who have long suffered the ravages of war, will pay the price.
Regional repercussions and a call for wisdom
The League concluded its statement by calling on all Yemeni factions to prioritize reason, wisdom, and the supreme national interest, and to rally around the internationally recognized legitimate leadership. It emphasized that the stability of Yemen is an integral part of the stability of the Arab and Islamic world, and that any division within the legitimate government would only benefit the Houthi militias and terrorist groups. The League prayed that God would protect Yemen and spare it from all forms of strife, both visible and hidden.
