The UAE announces the return of its forces from Yemen and the end of combat missions

The General Command of the UAE Armed Forces announced the complete withdrawal of all its personnel from Yemen, following years of active and pivotal participation within the Arab Coalition forces led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This announcement marks the culmination of a long period of military and humanitarian operations that began in 2015 with Operations Decisive Storm and Restoring Hope, aimed at restoring legitimacy and preserving stability in the region.
This event carries significant strategic and historical dimensions, as Emirati forces have been a cornerstone of the Arab Coalition. The UAE Armed Forces contributed directly to the liberation of vast areas of Yemeni territory, most notably Aden, Marib, and the western coast, in addition to their decisive role in combating terrorist organizations such as al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, particularly the liberation of Mukalla, which was considered a successful model of swift military operations against terrorism.
Throughout the years of the crisis, the UAE's role was not limited to direct combat. The country adopted a comprehensive strategy focused on training and equipping local Yemeni forces. Documented reports indicate that the UAE trained and equipped tens of thousands of Yemeni soldiers, contributing to the establishment of security and military forces capable of holding territory and maintaining security in the liberated governorates. This paved the way for the withdrawal of Emirati forces and the handover of responsibilities to the Yemeni people.
On the humanitarian front, the military effort was accompanied by massive relief and development support. The UAE provided billions of dollars in aid, including food, medicine, and the rehabilitation of infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, and power plants, thus alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people. This integration of military and humanitarian action reflects the UAE's vision of restoring normalcy alongside military operations.
Analysts emphasize that the completion of the troop withdrawal does not signify the UAE's abandonment of Yemen, but rather a shift to a new strategy based on "peace first" and support for political and diplomatic solutions. The UAE continues to stand alongside Saudi Arabia in its efforts to end the conflict and reach a comprehensive political settlement that guarantees the security and stability of Yemen and the region, while reserving its right to defend itself and its interests against any potential threats.
