Empowering productive families in Qatif as part of the Nasifa and Hilal event
In a developmental step reflecting the strategic shift in the non-profit sector in Saudi Arabia, the Sa'adah Charitable Society for Social Services in Saihat has enabled nine productive families to enter the job market directly through the "Nasifah and Hilal" event currently being held on the waterfront in Qatif Governorate. This initiative comes with strategic support and an active partnership with the Social Development Bank in the Eastern Province, aiming to move beneficiaries from a state of dependency and need to one of productivity and financial independence.
Strategic partnership to achieve Vision 2030
This economic and social movement is the culmination of a unique partnership between the non-profit and financial sectors, where efforts have combined to integrate these families into a truly competitive business environment. This step is perfectly aligned with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to empower the third sector and increase its contribution to the GDP, transforming families receiving social security and those in need into productive families with the tools for financial sustainability, thus ending the era of total dependence on direct aid.
The cultural and economic dimensions of the "Nasifa and Hilal" event
The importance of this participation extends beyond the economic aspect to encompass the cultural and social dimensions. The "Nasifa" events (the middle of the lunar month, often associated with the mid-Sha'ban or Ramadan celebrations in the Eastern Province and Gulf region's folklore) are an integral part of local identity. Capitalizing on such events, which attract large crowds to the Qatif waterfront, provides productive families with a golden opportunity for direct interaction with the public, allowing them to test the quality of their products and build a genuine customer base, moving beyond traditional support channels or purchases based on sympathy.
Marketing prospects and building brand identity
Through this initiative, the association aims to open up broad marketing opportunities for home-based businesses, enabling them to build an independent brand identity that ensures a steady flow of funds. This will gradually transform them from micro-enterprises into promising, growth-oriented economic entities. The support provided by the Eastern Province branch of the Social Development Bank is a cornerstone of this transformation, reflecting the financial sector's commitment to supporting the non-profit sector in fulfilling its developmental role and promoting a culture of entrepreneurship.
Success stories from need to production
In a related context, the Director of Development Programs, Ghada Al-Saif, confirmed that the ultimate goal of this participation goes beyond temporary sales and immediate profit, to reach the consolidation of the concept of self-reliance, and the creation of inspiring success stories for families who were able to move, thanks to will and empowerment, from the category of need to the category of active production.
Al-Saif considered the presence of families at such public events an invaluable opportunity to develop products based on direct consumer feedback and to gain the trust of the local market, thus enhancing opportunities for future expansion and growth. She added that this collaboration exemplifies a practical model of the desired integration between community institutions and funding bodies to achieve family and social stability through economic empowerment.
