Al-Khuraiji discusses strengthening relations with the Iranian ambassador in Riyadh

His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Engineer Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, received today at the Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kingdom, Ali Reza Enayati. This meeting comes within the framework of the Kingdom's ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen its regional and international relations.

During the reception, bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries were reviewed, and ways to strengthen and develop them in various fields were discussed, in addition to discussing a number of topics of common interest, and the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.

The course of Saudi-Iranian relations

This meeting is particularly significant given the remarkable progress in Saudi-Iranian relations since the resumption of diplomatic ties between the two countries. This progress culminates in the agreement reached in Beijing last March, which stipulated the resumption of diplomatic relations and the reopening of embassies and consulates in both countries—a move that was widely welcomed internationally and considered a cornerstone for supporting stability in the Middle East.

The importance of joint coordination

Regular meetings between officials from the two countries' foreign ministries are a positive indicator of their shared desire to move forward in building stable and sustainable relations. This direct communication helps overcome obstacles and enhance understanding on complex regional issues, which positively impacts the region's security and economic prosperity, and fulfills the aspirations of both nations for development and stability.

Extensive diplomatic activity

In a related context, and as part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' intensive activities, His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs had previously received Mr. Keiichi Iwamoto, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Director-General of the Bureau of Middle Eastern and African Affairs at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting addressed the strong historical relations between the Kingdom and Japan and explored opportunities for joint cooperation in light of the Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030, reflecting the Kingdom's balanced and open approach to its international relations with various global powers.
