Saudi Arabia signs the Davos Peace Council Charter to end the Gaza crisis

In a historic step reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in promoting regional and international stability, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed today the charter establishing the “Peace Council.” The signing ceremony took place during an official event held on the sidelines of the 2026 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, in the presence of His Excellency President Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, and a host of world leaders and representatives of countries supporting this initiative.

A new phase of joint diplomatic action

This signing culminates intensive diplomatic efforts led by the Kingdom in cooperation with international partners. The new council aims to establish a practical and sustainable framework for ending the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. The presence of the US President and leaders of major countries is evidence of the significant international momentum this council enjoys, and it is seen as a cornerstone for the region's future.

During the signing, His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Kingdom’s accession to the Charter of the United States comes as a welcome to the peace efforts led by His Excellency the President of the United States, and as a confirmation of Riyadh’s firm commitment to supporting all paths that lead to stopping the bloodshed and achieving security.

Peace Council: The International Reference for Reconstruction

The establishment of the "Peace Council" is based on international legitimacy, specifically UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which designated the Council as a "transitional body" mandated to manage the conflict resolution process in the Gaza Strip. The Council's responsibilities extend beyond security to include direct oversight of comprehensive reconstruction efforts, ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid, and creating the conditions necessary for the return of normal life to the residents of the Gaza Strip.

Political circles view this council as the most effective mechanism to ensure that the conflict does not recur, as it will work to bridge the political and security gaps that have long hampered calming efforts in recent years.

Saudi Arabia's leading role in the stability of the region

This Saudi move is not new to the Kingdom's foreign policy, which has always placed the Palestinian cause and the stability of the Middle East at the forefront of its priorities. For decades, the Kingdom has been pushing for just and comprehensive peaceful solutions that guarantee the rights of peoples and provide a secure environment for economic development.

Today’s signing reflects a continuation of this approach, as the Kingdom, through its membership and support of the Peace Council, seeks to push for a just and lasting peace that paves the way for achieving economic prosperity and social security for all countries and peoples of the region, away from the language of violence and destruction.
