Disciplinary decision: Al-Rasoukh qualifies and Al-Widad loses in the Jeddah 2026 tournament

In a remarkable development in the Jeddah Football Championship 2026 , the Disciplinary Committee issued a decisive decision that changed the balance of competition in the round of 16, as the committee announced the acceptance of the protest of the “Al-Rasoukh” team in form and substance against the “Al-Widad Al-Ta’ifi” team, so that the latter’s field victory turned into a harsh administrative loss.

Details of the disciplinary decision

The committee issued its decision No. (2/C/2026) on February 23, 2026, following the match between the two teams, which ended with Al-Widad winning 4-2. However, Al-Rasoukh's management submitted a formal protest, supported by evidence, regarding the ineligibility of player Abdulrahman Al-Jamaan (Halwani) , who wears number 8 for Al-Widad.

The protest was based on the regulations of the Amateur Football Association and the internal tournament regulations, which explicitly state that professional players are permanently prohibited from participating in this competition designated for amateurs, in order to preserve the principle of equal opportunities.

Penalties issued and result change

After studying the case and referring to Article (53) of the Disciplinary and Dispute Resolution Regulations, the committee decided the following:

  • The Al-Widad Al-Ta’ifi team is considered to have lost the match with a score of 3-0.
  • Player Abdulrahman Al-Jamaan has been suspended for 4 matches.
  • Administrator Khaled Al-Qurashi has been suspended for 4 matches, due to his administrative responsibility in including an ineligible player.
  • The protest fees were refunded to the "Al-Rasukh" team.

The committee confirmed that this decision is final and not subject to appeal, which means that Al-Rasoukh has officially qualified for the quarter-finals of the tournament.

The importance of adhering to regulations in amateur championships

This decision underscores the importance of the legislative and regulatory framework for neighborhood and open tournaments in Saudi Arabia. The Jeddah Football Championship is not merely a fleeting sporting competition; it serves as a platform for discovering talent and implementing professional administrative standards, even among amateur players.

The strict distinction between professional and amateur players is a fundamental pillar for ensuring fair competition, as these regulations aim to protect teams that rely on their young talents from facing unfair technical differences that may be caused by including professional players who possess experience and fitness levels that exceed the overall average of the tournament.

The impact of the decision on the course of the tournament

With this decision, Al-Rasoukh team continues its journey in the tournament with high morale, benefiting from the vigilance of its administrative staff who detected the legal violation. Conversely, the decision serves as a harsh lesson to the other participating teams regarding the necessity of scrutinizing player records and strictly adhering to regulations to avoid penalties that could undermine the technical efforts exerted on the field. The Disciplinary Committee's firmness reflects the organizers' desire to deliver a flawless edition of the Jeddah 2026 tournament, free from legal transgressions.
