In a move that reinforces Saudi Arabia's position as a global sporting destination, the Saudi Sports for All Federation announced details of the fifth edition of the Riyadh International Marathon , the capital's premier sporting event. This year marks a significant leap forward with the launch of the "Riyadh Marathon Festival" for the first time, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Arabian Athletics Federation.
Festival and global event details
Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University is scheduled to host the festival's events for four consecutive days, from January 25th to 31st, 2026, with the final day featuring the main marathon races. This expansion of the events aims to transform the race from a mere sporting competition into a comprehensive community carnival.
This event is of paramount importance as it embodies the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 , specifically the "Quality of Life" program, which aims to increase sports participation rates in society, promote public health, and create a vibrant and active community. The marathon's impact extends beyond the sporting aspect, encompassing economic and tourism benefits, attracting thousands of visitors and participants from within the Kingdom and abroad, thus boosting the sports tourism sector in the capital.
International accreditations and race routes
The Riyadh Marathon continues to solidify its international standing after receiving accreditation from the World Athletics Federation as an Elite Road Race for the fifth consecutive year. This year's edition features four main courses designed to suit all abilities
