Education: 10 Rajab is the deadline for early retirement 1447 and conditions for withdrawal

The Saudi Ministry of Education has announced that the 10th of Rajab will be the final deadline for early retirement applications from teachers for the 1447 AH academic year. The Ministry emphasized that applications will be accepted exclusively through the "Faris" self-service system, a move aimed at eliminating paper transactions and promoting digital transformation in the public sector.
Terms and conditions of early retirement
The ministry stipulated that acceptance of termination requests is contingent upon teachers having completed 25 years of service or more. It also specified the effective date of departure as the end of the first semester, corresponding to 21 Rajab 1447 AH. This precise timeframe was established to ensure the smooth continuation of the academic plan and to prevent any disruption to students' academic progress mid-year.
Exceptions for critical specialties
In its commitment to ensuring the continuity of the educational process, the Ministry exempted teachers of subjects classified as "high-demand" or critical subjects from the early retirement requirement. These teachers are obligated to remain in their classrooms and perform their duties until the end of the academic year. This measure aims to safeguard the interests of students, maintain the stability of the school schedule, and prevent any educational gaps that might arise from a sudden shortage of teachers in these specialized fields.
The context of digital transformation and the importance of early planning
This measure is part of the Ministry of Education's strategy, aligned with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which focuses on automating procedures and enhancing the efficiency of human resources. The "Faris" system is the technological arm that enables the Ministry to accurately manage the files of hundreds of thousands of employees. Announcing retirement dates early allows the Ministry to accurately determine its actual need for teaching staff for the coming year, thus facilitating new recruitment processes and internal and external transfers to fill anticipated vacancies well before the start of the academic year.
Required documents and approval process
The ministry stressed the need to attach a complete set of supporting documents via the "Faris" system to ensure the application is accepted, including:
- A valid national identity card photo.
- The bank IBAN certificate is certified.
- Documented clearance certificates from the Social Development Bank, the Real Estate Development Fund, and the Agricultural Development Fund.
- A detailed service statement showing periods of exceptional leave and days of deductions, to ensure that the net service period is calculated with extreme accuracy.
Warning regarding reversing the decision
The ministry concluded its clarification with an important warning to those hesitant, emphasizing that the early retirement decision becomes effective and final once approved by the authorized official within the system. Applicants do not have the right to reverse or withdraw their decision after this step. Therefore, teachers are urged to carefully consider their options and ensure they are fully informed before submitting and finalizing their applications.
