SAR launches "Safer Lak" campaign in Al-Nu'airiyah: fines and penalties for violators

Saudi Railways (SAR) announced today, Thursday, the launch of the second phase of its extensive field awareness campaign, "Safer for You," in Al-Nairiyah Governorate. This initiative is part of the company's ongoing efforts to raise community awareness about the serious dangers of crossing railway lines haphazardly and to promote a culture of safety among local residents and visitors to the area. The three-day campaign is a proactive plan aimed at protecting lives and public property.
A comprehensive strategy for safety and awareness
This field visit is an integral part of the seventh cycle of the national initiative, as SAR intensifies its on-the-ground presence to reinforce public safety principles across the Kingdom's railway network. The campaign primarily aims to eliminate dangerous behaviors in the vicinity of railways, such as crossing tracks at unauthorized locations or grazing near the tracks—practices that pose a direct threat to train safety and human life.
The field teams in Al-Nairiyah focus on direct and effective communication with the target groups, which include residents of neighborhoods near the routes, users of the roads adjacent to the intersections, as well as livestock owners and picnickers who are frequently found in open areas during these times of the year.
The economic and security importance of the railway network
This campaign is doubly important given the vital role of the railway network in Saudi Arabia, particularly the mining line and the North Train, which runs through the Eastern Province. The railway network is not only a passenger transport hub but also a major economic artery, carrying minerals and goods, supporting national industries, and enhancing the Kingdom's position as a global logistics center. Any attack on this network not only threatens lives but could also disrupt supply chains and negatively impact the operational efficiency of the national economy.
Deterrent penalties for violators
In enforcing regulations, the campaign emphasized the legal aspects to ensure full compliance. SAR clarified that the Kingdom's regulations impose strict penalties on those who trespass on or damage railway property. These penalties include a fine of up to 500,000 Saudi Riyals, imprisonment for up to two years, or both, to ensure both general and specific deterrence.
Alignment with the Kingdom's Vision 2030
SAR’s field operations are fully aligned with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy stemming from Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to raise safety standards in the transport sector, improve quality of life, and ensure a safe and sustainable transport environment that serves the aspirations of the nation and its citizens.
