Meteorology: Rain and wind in Mecca and Tabuk, warnings in effect until evening

The National Center for Meteorology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in its daily weather report for this Friday, issued important weather alerts related to weather fluctuations affecting several regions, calling on citizens and residents to exercise caution while traveling.

Weather details for the Makkah region

The center explained in its report that parts of the Makkah region are experiencing varying intensities of rainfall, accompanied by brisk winds that may stir up dust and sand in some open areas. The report also indicated that this weather pattern includes a significant decrease in horizontal visibility, in addition to the possibility of thunderstorms.

The alert included several governorates within the region, namely: Adham, Al-Ardiyat, and Al-Lith . The meteorological department indicated that this rainy weather and its accompanying conditions will continue – God willing – until 8:00 PM this Friday, necessitating caution when driving on the highways connecting these governorates.

Rainy weather in the Tabuk region

In a related development, the National Center for Meteorology issued a warning for the Tabuk region, forecasting light rain in Tabuk city and the Tayma governorate . The center indicated that the accompanying effects would include increased surface wind activity, reduced horizontal visibility, and a chance of scattered thunderstorms.

The center confirmed that the weather conditions in the Tabuk region will continue until 8 pm today, stressing the need to follow the continuous updates through official channels.

The importance of adhering to safety instructions

These alerts are part of the National Center for Meteorology's ongoing efforts to monitor and track weather changes across the Kingdom, with the aim of protecting lives and property. Such weather events typically coincide with warnings from the General Directorate of Civil Defense, urging everyone to stay away from valleys and floodplains, avoid crossing valleys while they are flowing, and stay away from low-lying areas and water accumulations.

Context of seasonal weather fluctuations

These weather fluctuations are part of the climatic characteristics the Kingdom experiences during seasonal transitions or rainy seasons, when the western and northern regions are affected by humid air masses that contribute to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds and rainfall. These warnings are of paramount importance given the Kingdom's diverse geography, as rainfall impacts vary between coastal areas like Al-Lith, mountainous regions, and northern areas like Tabuk. Therefore, closely monitoring weather forecasts is essential for planning daily activities and land travel.
