
20,000 units... The lighting system in Arafat is now fully operational
The ministry explained that Arafat The evening of the Day of Tarwiyah appeared in a bright appearance, after the Secretariat teams carried out lighting works according to engineering styles and modern methods, which contributed to giving a complete visual scene to the holy site, and turning the atmosphere of the night of Arafat into a painting glowing with lights that reflects the level of readiness and services provided to the pilgrims.
She explained that the lighting network in the holy sites includes more than 20,000 lighting units of different capacities, which have been installed on about 5,000 towers and poles of various lengths and shapes, and have been distributed to cover all streets and roads in the holy sites, forming an integrated model of modern lighting.
Implementing preventive maintenance
The Ministry affirmed its commitment to the ongoing development and annual modernization of lighting networks in Mecca and the Holy Sites, noting that preventative maintenance was carried out this year on over 200,000 lighting units in Mecca and the Holy Sites.
This includes the installation of new floodlights using advanced technologies, along with comprehensive inspection and maintenance of all network components well in advance of the Hajj season.
She added that the preventive maintenance work focused on a number of sites in Arafat, the new pedestrian routes and the roads leading between Arafat and Muzdalifah, and included lighting towers with a height of 50 meters and others with a height of 30 meters, in addition to spotlights with capacities of 1000 and 400 watts.
24/7 monitoring
The ministry indicated that the field teams are continuing their work around the clock to monitor the lighting system, maintain its operational efficiency, and ensure the continuity of services provided to the pilgrims throughout the Hajj season.
