
A "sensory room" attracts 2,000 visitors to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder in Al-Khobar

The association concluded the activities of its “Containing Today… Empowering Tomorrow” program in its second year, which was held on the waterfront in Al-Khobar and witnessed an exceptional turnout over three consecutive days with the aim of bringing about a qualitative shift in community awareness.
The Autism Growth Association explained that the "From Their World to Feel" event included the creation of a sensory room that accurately simulates the experience of autism spectrum disorder AutismImmediate and direct consultations for visitors, in an effort to build a bridge of empathy and transfer awareness from its theoretical framework to practical reality.
The event witnessed the participation of 14 specialized entities in this vital field, which provided an integrated package of advisory and awareness services that contributed to enriching the program and supporting the attendees throughout its duration.
She explained that exceeding 2,000 beneficiaries demonstrates the success of their strategy, which relies on interactive, field-based initiatives capable of leaving a lasting and profound impact on community members.
At the program's conclusion, a ceremony was held to honor the participating government and private entities, recognizing their pivotal and influential role in the initiative's success and their contributions of diverse expertise to achieving the desired humanitarian goals.
Jamila Al-Balharith, Executive Director of the Nomo Autism Association, expressed her deep gratitude to the Khobar Municipality and all partners in success, including specialized agencies and volunteer teams.
Al-Balharith emphasized that "Empowering Tomorrow" begins today with serious steps to provide appropriate support for individuals with autism and their families, noting the association's commitment to offering more comprehensive and innovative initiatives in the coming years.
