King Salman Relief Center distributes thousands of hot meals in Gaza
As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the central kitchen of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributed 24,800 hot meals to the most vulnerable displaced people in central and southern Gaza. This initiative is part of the Saudi popular campaign to aid the Palestinian people, aiming to alleviate the severity of the humanitarian crisis facing the residents of the Gaza Strip.
General context and historical background
This continued support reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s longstanding and unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause. For decades, the Kingdom has provided substantial political, material, and humanitarian support to the Palestinian people through various channels. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, established in 2015, is the Kingdom’s primary humanitarian arm, implementing relief projects worldwide, with a particular focus on crises in the Arab region. The current campaign is a response to the catastrophic conditions in the Gaza Strip, where the situation has led to mass displacement, the destruction of infrastructure, and a severe shortage of basic necessities.
The importance of aid and its expected impact
This food aid is of paramount importance given international warnings of famine and food insecurity in Gaza. Locally, these meals directly contribute to providing essential food for thousands of displaced families, particularly children, women, and the elderly, helping to prevent malnutrition and related illnesses. They also offer psychological support to the population, assuring them that they are not forgotten in their time of need.
At the regional and international levels, these efforts reinforce the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s role as a leading nation in global humanitarian work. These initiatives highlight the Kingdom’s commitment to the principles of Arab and Islamic solidarity and underscore its pivotal role in supporting stability and providing aid during times of crisis. They also emphasize the importance of concerted international efforts to ensure that sufficient and sustainable humanitarian assistance reaches all those affected in the sector.
