Yemen welcomes the Saudi statement regarding the events in Hadramawt and Al-Mahra

The Yemeni government expressed its strong welcome and full support for the statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which included a firm and responsible stance regarding the recent developments in the Hadramawt and Al-Mahra governorates. In an official statement, the government commended the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to contain any escalation that could threaten the stability of the eastern governorates, affirming that this position reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to protecting the interests of the Yemeni people and preserving national achievements.
The importance of stability in the eastern provinces
The governorates of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra hold immense strategic and geopolitical importance on the Yemeni map. Hadramawt is the largest governorate in the republic by area and is rich in natural resources, while Al-Mahra serves as Yemen's eastern gateway and a vital artery for trade and humanitarian aid. The Saudi position comes at a sensitive time, reaffirming the necessity of sparing these areas from military conflict, given their strategic depth and economic weight for the Yemeni state, and the potential negative repercussions of any instability there on regional security and international navigation.
Rejection of unilateral actions outside the framework of the state
The government statement affirmed that the recent actions taken by the Southern Transitional Council in the two governorates constitute an unjustified unilateral escalation, undertaken without coordination with the Presidential Leadership Council or the Coalition to Support Legitimacy. The government stressed that any military or security measures outside the constitutional and institutional frameworks of the state only serve to weaken the internal front and distract from efforts aimed at restoring the state and ending the Houthi coup. It clarified that preserving the social fabric in Hadramawt and Al-Mahra is a paramount national priority that cannot be compromised.
Joint Saudi-Emirati efforts to de-escalate tensions
The Yemeni government commended the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in close coordination with the United Arab Emirates, in managing the de-escalation process and addressing imbalances in a spirit of partnership and responsibility. Sources indicated that the Kingdom worked diligently with the Presidential Leadership Council to dispatch joint committees aimed at stabilizing the security situation, ensuring the withdrawal of irregular forces and the handover of camps to the "Homeland Shield" forces, which were formed by presidential decree to strengthen state authority and enforce security and stability.
Supporting legitimacy and the development path
In closing, the government reiterated its commitment to working under the umbrella of the Presidential Leadership Council and with the support of the Coalition to restore the state's authority. It noted that the Kingdom has not only provided political and military support but also continues to offer comprehensive economic and development assistance to improve services and alleviate human suffering. The government affirmed that the only way to achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people, including addressing the Southern issue in accordance with established frameworks and principles of justice, is through dialogue and national consensus, rejecting the use of force and the imposition of a fait accompli.
