Autumn: 19,000 Saudi-made products reach 180 countries
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, announced a significant leap forward in the national export sector, revealing that the number of products registered under the “Made in Saudi Arabia” label has exceeded 19,000, now reaching markets in 180 countries worldwide. This achievement reflects the rapid development of the industrial sector in Saudi Arabia and the ongoing efforts to enhance the position of Saudi products in global markets.
The “Made in Saudi Arabia” program: a key pillar of Vision 2030
The “Made in Saudi Arabia” program, launched by the Saudi Export Development Authority, is one of the most prominent national initiatives stemming from the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP). The program primarily aims to build a unified industrial identity that enhances the reliability of Saudi products and makes them the preferred choice for consumers both locally and globally. Since its launch, the program has incentivized Saudi companies to register their products, contributing to higher standards of quality and competitiveness.
The economic context and the shift from oil to industrial diversification
These figures come amid a historic transformation of the Saudi economy under Vision 2030, which aims to reduce reliance on oil as the primary source of income and diversify the economic base. While the Kingdom has long been known as the world's largest oil exporter, the National Industrial Strategy seeks to double the value of industrial exports and increase the number of factories in the Kingdom, transforming Saudi Arabia into a leading industrial power and a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
Strategic importance and its impact on the national economy
The arrival of 19,000 Saudi products in 180 countries carries profound economic implications, including:
- Boosting non-oil GDP: Increasing exports contributes to raising the private sector’s contribution to GDP, which is one of the main objectives of the vision.
- Improving the balance of payments: Exporting national products leads to an inflow of foreign currency and reduces the import bill by relying on local alternatives.
- Creating job opportunities: Expanding production and exports requires an increase in the workforce, which opens up broad prospects for employing national talent in various industrial and logistical sectors.
A future outlook: Towards regional and international integration
The impact of this achievement extends beyond Saudi Arabia, strengthening regional and international economic integration. Saudi products, encompassing sectors such as petrochemicals, building materials, food, packaging, and advanced technologies, are now highly competitive in global markets thanks to their quality and compliance with international standards. Al-Khorayef affirms that the Ministry continues to remove obstacles for exporters and open new markets, further solidifying the Kingdom's position as a reliable trading partner in global supply chains.
