Booking a driving lesson appointment for women via Absher: Steps and conditions

The Absher e-platform continues to enhance its digital services to streamline procedures for citizens and residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly services for Saudi women. The platform recently clarified the official steps for women to book training appointments at driving schools, as part of the ongoing facilitations since the historic decision to allow women to drive.

The context of women's empowerment and digital transformation

The clarification of these services comes as a continuation of the Kingdom's journey to empower women, which began with the royal decree allowing women to drive, implemented in June 2018. This decision has contributed to enhancing women's independence and participation in the labor market. The "Absher" platform plays a pivotal role in realizing the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 related to digital transformation, enabling the completion of all traffic-related procedures without the need to visit government offices, thus saving time and effort and reflecting the technological advancement of the Kingdom's digital infrastructure.

Steps to book a driving lesson appointment for women

The Absher platform explained through its FAQ section that women wishing to obtain a driver's license can book a training appointment electronically by following these steps:

  1. Log in to the "Absher" platform using your digital identity.
  2. Go to the "Appointments" tab.
  3. Select "Pass".
  4. Click on "Book an appointment".
  5. Select the "Driving Schools" option and choose the appropriate school and time.

Conditions for buying vehicles electronically

In addition to training services, the platform highlighted its "vehicle sales" service, which enables individuals to buy and sell cars safely and reliably. The platform outlined the necessary conditions for successfully completing the transaction:

  • Both the seller and the buyer must be registered and active on the Absher platform.
  • Validity of the vehicle registration form, periodic inspection, and vehicle insurance.
  • Payment of the government fees for the service, amounting to 150 Saudi Riyals.
  • The buyer's and vehicle's records must be free of traffic violations.
  • The vehicle must be in good condition (not stopped, lost, wanted, or impounded).
  • The service is available for vehicles of the type (private, private transport, motorcycles) for citizens, and (private, motorcycles) for residents.

Digital tablet wallet service

In a related development initiative, the Ministry of Interior recently announced the launch of the "Digital Vehicle Plate Wallet" service. This service represents a significant leap forward, enabling users to easily manage their distinctive license plates. The service allows for:

  • Exchanging license plates between vehicles owned by the beneficiary.
  • Save the paintings in the digital wallet for later use.
  • Add paintings purchased from online auctions directly to the wallet.
  • The ability to drop the panels when needed.

This service can be accessed by logging into vehicle services in Absher, then selecting "Digital Vehicle Plate Wallet" and following the instructions to complete the procedure entirely electronically.
