The Najran Municipality is working to rehabilitate and develop King Fahd National Park, transforming it into a sustainable environmental and recreational haven that preserves biodiversity and combats desertification. This includes developing walking and cycling paths, seating areas, and service facilities; extensive afforestation using drought-tolerant native species; planting thousands of trees and shrubs with improved irrigation systems and water collection tanks; and protecting vegetation from grazing and fires through barriers, fences, and designated areas.
The initiatives also include encouraging community participation through tree-planting campaigns, awareness workshops, and partnerships with the private sector and government agencies. These efforts have led to increased green spaces, improved air quality, enhanced urban beautification, boosted tourism and environmental awareness, and created opportunities for volunteering, community activities, and health initiatives.
