The Sultan of Oman discusses strengthening relations and recent developments with the Saudi Foreign Minister

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, received His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Saudi Foreign Minister, at Al Baraka Palace in the Omani capital, Muscat, today, in an official visit that reflects the depth of the fraternal ties that unite the two brotherly countries.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister, to His Majesty the Sultan of Oman, along with their wishes for his continued health and happiness, and for the brotherly Omani people continued progress, development, and prosperity. For his part, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq asked His Highness to convey his greetings and appreciation to his brother, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and his sincere wishes for the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve further advancement and progress.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the deep-rooted and historic fraternal relations between their countries and discussed ways to strengthen and develop them across various fields to serve their common interests. They also addressed the latest regional and international developments and the efforts being made in this regard, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and consultation to enhance security and stability in the region.
This visit is of particular importance given the active diplomatic efforts underway in the region, as Saudi-Omani relations serve as a model of strategic integration in the Arabian Gulf. These relations are based on a long historical legacy and deep social and cultural ties, which have been significantly strengthened in recent years through the establishment of the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council. The Council aims to institutionalize cooperation and broaden the horizons of partnership in the political, economic, and security spheres.
On the economic front, the two countries share similar future visions, embodied in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and Oman’s Vision 2040, as both seek to diversify their sources of income and enhance bilateral investments. The past period has witnessed tangible steps, most notably the opening of the direct land route between the two countries across the Empty Quarter, a vital artery for boosting trade and tourism, reflecting a strong desire to accelerate joint economic development.
Regionally, Saudi-Omani coordination plays a pivotal role in addressing complex issues in the Middle East, particularly regarding supporting political solutions to existing crises and strengthening the Gulf Cooperation Council's joint action framework. This meeting underscores the convergence of views between Riyadh and Muscat on the necessity of prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy to ensure regional stability and prevent further escalation of tensions.
The reception was attended by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Sultanate of Oman, Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan, and a number of officials from both sides.
