March 31st is the deadline for the mandatory rectification of the status of water filling stations
The authority explained that these requirements were previously announced as part of its efforts to regulate the water sector and raise the level of safety and quality in the services provided to beneficiaries, noting the importance of taking the initiative to comply during the remaining period.
Technical standards
She explained that the requirements aim to ensure that water filling stations operate according to technical and operational standards that enhance operational safety and service efficiency, and contribute to providing an organized and safe operating environment within the stations.
She pointed out that the requirements include a number of essential requirements, most notably designing the station to ensure separate entrances and exits to regulate tanker traffic, reduce congestion, and enhance operational safety, in addition to regulating vehicle movement within the site and the safe disposal of operational waste.
Suitable specifications
The requirements also included preparing the station's flooring to appropriate specifications capable of withstanding the heavy weight of tankers, providing suitable slopes for water drainage, and clear traffic flow control lines to minimize accidents and ensure the safety of workers and vehicles on site.
Regarding operations, the authority emphasized the need for adequate production capacity, distributing water sources across multiple tanks, and using automated gauges to monitor water levels, thus guaranteeing uninterrupted service and enhancing the station's readiness to meet demand.
Regular maintenance
Regarding water safety, the Authority stressed the importance of providing tightly sealed water tanks that undergo regular cleaning and maintenance, and of selecting suitable locations far from sources of pollution, to ensure the preservation of water quality and safety.
The Saudi Water Authority also emphasized the necessity for station owners and operators to complete licensing requirements before the deadline, urging them to utilize the remaining period to rectify any issues and comply with regulatory requirements.
The Authority noted that failure to comply with these requirements will subject those engaged in the activity to violations and penalties in accordance with the Water Law, as part of its regulatory role to oversee the sector and raise the level of compliance and quality of services provided.
