
Princess Fahda honors the winners of the King Salman Award for the Holy Quran
Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may God protect him - the capital, Riyadh, witnessed a prominent religious and national event on Thursday evening, as the wife of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Her Highness Princess Fahda bint Falah Al Hathleen, honored the winners of the local competition for the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Award for Memorization, Recitation and Interpretation of the Holy Qur’an in its twenty-seventh session.
This ceremony is the culmination of the efforts of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, which organized and oversaw this prestigious competition, reflecting the wise leadership's keen interest in the Holy Quran and its memorizers. The ceremony began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a documentary presentation showcasing the award's history and development over the years, highlighting the unlimited support it receives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.
The Kingdom's mission in serving the Holy Quran
In his address during the ceremony, His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, and General Supervisor of the competition, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, affirmed that honoring this elite group of young women embodies the profound and noble mission that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has undertaken since its founding. He pointed out that caring for the Holy Quran is not merely a competition, but rather a way of life and a national constitution, aiming to cultivate a generation armed with the tolerant, moderate, and balanced values of Islam.
Al-Sheikh added that this competition, which bears a name dear to everyone’s hearts, represents an extension of a firm approach to harnessing all capabilities to serve the Book of God, praising the generous support of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who pays special attention to programs that promote Islamic identity among the youth.
Fair competition and millions in prizes
This year's competition witnessed widespread participation and strong competition, reflecting the deep connection of the Kingdom's sons and daughters to the Holy Quran. More than 3,600 contestants from across the Kingdom's regions and provinces participated in the preliminary rounds, with 129 qualifying for the finals in Riyadh. The contestants underwent rigorous evaluation by specialized female judging panels, adhering to the highest standards of quality and excellence.
In recognition of this effort and perseverance, the Ministry allocated huge financial prizes for the winners, totaling 7 million riyals, as an incentive for those who memorize the Book of God and to encourage them to continue on this blessed path, so that they may be good building blocks in their society and their country.
Inspiring examples and well-deserved recognition
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Her Royal Highness Princess Fahda bint Falah Al Hithlain honored the winners of the top prizes in the six categories of the competition, praising their achievements which reflect the bright image of Saudi women and their adherence to the values of their faith. Her Highness also honored the female members of the judging panel in recognition of their dedicated efforts in ensuring the success of the competition.
The ceremony was attended by a number of Their Highnesses and Excellencies, and a select group of women interested in the sciences of the Holy Quran, in addition to the mothers of the contestants who expressed their pride and honor in this recognition, which comes under the generous patronage of the wise leadership.
