King Salman Center distributes aid in Sudan, Afghanistan and Yemen

As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to extend a helping hand to those in need around the world, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid to implement its urgent relief programs in three countries experiencing exceptional circumstances, namely Sudan, Afghanistan and Yemen, targeting thousands of displaced and most needy families by providing shelter, food and winter clothing assistance.
Supporting displaced people in Sudan amidst crises
In the Republic of Sudan, which is experiencing a complex humanitarian situation due to ongoing internal displacement, the center distributed 750 shelter kits and tents in the Sheikan locality of North Kordofan State. This aid benefited 4,320 individuals from families forced to leave their homes.
This step comes in response to the urgent need for shelter in light of the current circumstances in Sudan, where the Kingdom, through its humanitarian arm, is working to provide basic necessities that preserve the dignity of displaced families and protect them from the vagaries of the weather, especially in areas that are overcrowded with displaced people and lack sufficient infrastructure for shelter.
Enhancing food security in Afghanistan
In Asia, specifically in Afghanistan, the center distributed 257 complete food baskets in Sar-e Pol province, benefiting 1,542 individuals from 257 families. The beneficiaries included returnees to their countries of origin, internally displaced persons, orphans, and the most vulnerable groups.
This support falls under the “Food Security and Emergency” project in Afghanistan for 2026, a strategic project aimed at combating hunger and malnutrition in light of the difficult economic and living challenges facing the country, reflecting the Kingdom’s long-term commitment to supporting the brotherly Afghan people.
Winter clothing and coping with the cold in Yemen
In Yemen, as winter approaches and exacerbates the suffering of displaced people, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributed 2,780 shopping vouchers in the city district of Marib Governorate. These vouchers allow beneficiaries to freely purchase winter clothing and choose what suits their needs, benefiting 2,780 displaced individuals.
This aid is particularly important in Marib Governorate, which hosts millions of displaced people living in camps lacking adequate heating. The distribution of vouchers is an innovative solution that supports the local economy while simultaneously giving beneficiaries the freedom to choose in a way that preserves their dignity, as part of efforts to combat the harsh winter.
The Kingdom's humanitarian message
These simultaneous efforts across three different continents exemplify the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's leading role in international humanitarian work. Since its inception, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre has strived to provide support without discrimination, reaching the most affected areas, whether due to armed conflicts or natural disasters, thus reinforcing the Kingdom's position as one of the world's largest donors of humanitarian aid.
