Florida governor signs bill to rename airport after Trump
Governor Florida Ron DeSantis signed a bill Monday to rename Palm Beach International Airport to “President Donald J. Trump International Airport”.
Changing the airport's name still requires a signature from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as well as the completion of rights agreements.
The FFA said in a statement that “changing the airport’s name is a local issue, and the Federal Aviation Administration does not approve of airport name changes.”.
She added: “But the Federal Aviation Administration still needs to complete some administrative tasks, including updating navigational charts and databases.”.
The airport is near Trump's resort
The airport is located about 3 kilometers from the Mar-a-Lago resort owned by Donald Trump.
Since returning to the White House in January 2025, Trump has sought to put his stamp on public institutions, such as adding his name to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington.
