The preacher of the Grand Mosque: Belief in divine decree and predestination strengthens the believer's heart and draws him closer to God
The preacher of the Grand Mosque, Dr. Yasser Al-Dosari, stated that belief in divine decree and predestination is a means of salvation from Hellfire and God's wrath.
He added that when this belief is firmly established in people's hearts, God motivates them and elevates them to the highest levels of perfection in their lives. He further explained that predestination is God's secret in His creation, and everything He decrees will come to pass according to His wisdom. For it is God who creates and destroys, impoverishes and enriches, and leads astray and guides.
Submitting to God's will
He said, “Whatever God reveals to us, we believe in and accept. Whatever His wisdom we submit to it and are content with it.
Whoever truly believes in God and knows that everything is by the decree and predestination of the Most Merciful, and fulfills its requirements, God will strengthen his heart with contentment. Whoever seeks God’s help, relying on Him wholeheartedly, He will aid him. Whoever bears burdens in His cause, He will make them easy for him.
How can one who knows that death is inevitable fear? How can one who knows that sustenance is apportioned fear poverty? If a servant believes this, God will ease his trials and grant him steadfastness.”
Levels of belief in predestination and divine decree
The Grand Imam explained that belief in divine decree and predestination has four levels:
the level of knowledge, which is belief in God's all-encompassing knowledge; the level of writing, meaning belief that God Almighty has written the destinies of all creation in the Preserved Tablet; the level of will and decree, meaning belief that everything that occurs in the universe is by God's effective will; and finally, the level of creation, meaning belief that God is the Creator of all things, that there is no creator besides Him, and no Lord other than Him.
