The Crown Prince meets with the UN Secretary-General in Riyadh to discuss global security

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met today in his office at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, in a high-level meeting that reflects the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the international stage.

Strengthening international cooperation and supporting stability

During the meeting, a comprehensive review of regional and international developments was conducted, with both sides focusing on ways to support UN and international efforts to enhance global security and stability. This meeting comes at a time when the world is facing complex geopolitical challenges, highlighting the importance of ongoing coordination between the Kingdom, as an influential regional and international power, and the United Nations, the organization responsible for maintaining international peace and security.

Strategic and historic partnership

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has a long history of fruitful cooperation with the United Nations, as it is one of the organization's founding members. The relationship between the two parties is characterized by a strategic partnership across numerous areas, ranging from humanitarian and relief initiatives led by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, to the Kingdom's efforts in supporting sustainable development and combating climate change through initiatives such as "Green Saudi Arabia" and "Green Middle East," whose objectives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

This meeting underscores the Kingdom's political and diplomatic weight, as Riyadh consistently prioritizes dialogue and diplomatic solutions in addressing crises. The meeting was attended on the Saudi side by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Excellency Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers, and National Security Advisor; and the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Wasil. On the United Nations side, the meeting was attended by Miguel Moratinos, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, and Miguel Graça, Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
