Today's weather forecast (Friday): Fog in 4 regions and details of sea conditions

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued its detailed daily weather report for Friday, including important weather alerts related to phenomena that may affect horizontal visibility in several regions. This report is part of the center's ongoing monitoring of weather fluctuations to ensure the safety of citizens and residents.

Fog forecast and its impact on visibility

The center explained in its statement that conditions remain favorable for fog formation, with varying density from place to place, during the late night and early morning hours. This weather pattern includes large parts of the Tabuk, Al-Jawf, Northern Borders, and Eastern Province regions , in addition to parts of the southwestern highlands of the Kingdom. Fog at this time of year is a characteristic feature of winter weather and seasonal transitions in the Kingdom, as relative humidity increases with lower minimum temperatures, leading to condensation of water vapor and fog formation.

The importance of exercising caution on highways

Due to the reduced horizontal visibility caused by fog, this weather condition requires special attention from drivers, particularly on highways and open roads connecting cities in the aforementioned regions (north and east). Authorities typically advise drivers to reduce speed, use fog lights, and maintain a safe following distance to avoid traffic accidents that may result from sudden loss of visibility.

State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf

Regarding the marine conditions, the weather report provided a detailed breakdown of wind patterns and wave heights, which is of interest to fishermen and seafarers:

  • The Red Sea: Northwesterly to northerly surface winds are present in the northern and central parts, while southeasterly to easterly winds prevail in the southern part. Wind speeds range from 15 to 42 km/h, reaching up to 48 km/h towards the Gulf of Aqaba. Wave heights range from half a meter to one and a half meters, potentially reaching two meters towards the Gulf of Aqaba. Sea conditions are generally slight to moderate.
  • Arabian Gulf: Surface winds will be southerly to southeasterly in the northern and central parts, shifting to southwesterly to westerly in the southern part, with speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h. Wave height will be relatively stable, ranging from half a meter to one meter, resulting in calm sea conditions.

The National Center for Meteorology emphasizes the need to follow up on the real-time reports and early warnings it issues through its official platforms, as this information plays a vital role in planning daily activities and land and sea travel in various regions of the Kingdom.
