The Saudi Foreign Minister and his South Korean counterpart review bilateral relations

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation today with His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Joo Hyun, during which the two sides discussed ways to strengthen the strong bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, in addition to discussing the latest developments on the regional and international arenas and issues of common interest.
The depth of Saudi-Korean relations
This contact comes within the framework of ongoing coordination between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Korea, which are linked by historical and strategic relations that extend for more than six decades, as diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1962. These relations have witnessed remarkable development in recent years, driven by the shared desire to expand the horizons of cooperation in various fields, especially in light of the convergence of visions between the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and Korean development plans.
Growing economic and strategic partnership
Saudi Arabia is South Korea’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and plays a pivotal role in the energy security of the Korean economy. In turn, Korean companies are actively contributing to the Kingdom’s major infrastructure projects and industrial development. Cooperation has expanded beyond traditional sectors like oil and construction to encompass vital new areas such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, defense industries, and digital technology, reflecting a qualitative shift in the nature of the partnership between Riyadh and Seoul.
Political coordination to confront challenges
On the political front, the contact between the two foreign ministers reflects the two countries' keenness to exchange views on pressing issues facing the region and the world. Active diplomacy between the two sides plays a vital role in strengthening international peace and security, as their perspectives align on many issues, including the need to maintain the stability of global energy supplies, combat terrorism, and support peaceful solutions to regional conflicts. This ongoing communication underscores the importance that the leadership of both countries places on deepening the bonds of friendship and cooperation in a way that serves the interests of both peoples and contributes to global stability.
