Minister of Information: Oil discoveries and digital achievements for Saudi Arabia in 2025

Saudi Minister of Media, Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossari, announced a series of major national achievements by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during 2025, emphasizing that the country continues its ambitious journey towards achieving the goals of Vision 2030 with steady and rapid progress. This announcement came during his participation in the government press conference, a key platform for transparent communication with the public and media regarding the performance of government agencies.

Strengthening the Kingdom's position in the global energy market

In an announcement reflecting the Kingdom’s continued leadership in the energy sector, Al-Dossari revealed the success of national efforts in discovering 13 new fields and 12 gas and oil reservoirs during 2025. These discoveries will enhance the Kingdom’s hydrocarbon reserves, contributing to the sustainability of energy supplies and meeting increasing global demand, as well as supporting the national economy with additional resources that enable the financing of major economic diversification projects.

Digital leadership and growing quality of life

Regarding digital transformation and building a knowledge economy, the Minister of Media explained that the Kingdom has secured its place at the forefront globally, ranking first worldwide in the number of awards at the Artificial Intelligence for Youth competition with 26 awards, in addition to achieving second place globally in digital government indicators. These figures reflect the massive investment in technological infrastructure and in young Saudi talent.

Regarding quality of life, Al-Dossari noted a tangible improvement in health and social indicators, with the average life expectancy in the Kingdom rising to 79.7 years, compared to 74 years in 2016, reflecting the development of the healthcare system. He also pointed out that homeownership among Saudi families reached 65.4% by the end of last year, confirming the success of housing programs in providing suitable housing solutions for citizens.

Openness to the world and humanitarian and environmental initiatives

The minister affirmed that the Saudi passport has become more powerful, with citizens gaining visa-free or special visa-free access to 31 countries by 2025. On the humanitarian front, the Crown Prince's blood donation campaign achieved a significant leap, quadrupling the number of donors. Environmentally, 85,000 seabirds were documented and 1,600 endangered wildlife species were reintroduced as part of Saudi Arabia's green initiatives.

Qiddiya Project: The Destination of the Future

The conference witnessed the participation of the Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company, Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Dawood, who reviewed the developments of the Qiddiya project as a capital of entertainment, sports and culture, announcing details of the anticipated experiences in “Six Flags Qiddiya City”, which will form a global tourist attraction that supports the tourism and entertainment sector in the Kingdom.
