Jeddah Municipality disconnects services from 118 dilapidated buildings in Al-Farouq

The relevant authorities, in cooperation with Jeddah Governorate MunicipalityServices were disconnected and removed from (118) dilapidated buildings in the “Al-Farouq” neighborhood within the University Municipality, in preparation for their demolition, as part of the Secretariat’s ongoing efforts to enhance Public safety Protecting lives and property, and addressing the conditions of dilapidated buildings that pose a danger to residents and the urban environment.

The Secretariat explained that the current phase comes as a continuation of the removal work that the neighborhood witnessed earlier, indicating that the General Department of Emergency and Crisis, in coordination with the relevant authorities, has begun field work to supervise the separation and removal of services from the targeted buildings, supported by security arrangements to ensure the safety of work sites and the implementation of procedures in accordance with the approved regulations.

Specific deadline

The Secretariat indicated that this comes after the completion of the regulatory procedures, as the owners of the buildings included were previously notified and demolition decisions were issued against them by the Committee for Buildings in Danger of Collapse after the end of the specified deadline, in preparation for starting the demolition work.

Service separation

The Jeddah Governorate Secretariat affirmed its continued efforts to monitor and address buildings that pose a threat to public safety in various neighborhoods of the governorate, in line with the objectives of improving the urban landscape, enhancing the quality of life, and achieving a safe and sustainable urban environment.
