Parliamentary diplomacy and its supportive role
This reception comes at a crucial time, as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing active diplomatic engagement on all fronts. These meetings are particularly significant as they bridge the gap between traditional diplomacy led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the "parliamentary diplomacy" undertaken by the Shura Council. The Council's parliamentary friendship committees play a pivotal role in fostering understanding with parliaments worldwide and in enacting legislation that facilitates international agreements, making coordination between ambassadors and the Council a cornerstone for serving the Kingdom's best interests.
Directives to enhance the Kingdom's global standing
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sheikh welcomed the new ambassadors, congratulating them on the great royal trust bestowed upon them by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. He emphasized the immense responsibility entrusted to them in representing the Kingdom, which today occupies a leading position on the international and regional stage, particularly in light of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which necessitates a concerted effort to strengthen economic, cultural, and political partnerships.
The Speaker of the Shura Council stressed the importance of the role played by ambassadors in conveying the true and honorable image of the Kingdom, explaining its firm positions and balanced policies based on supporting international peace and security, and promoting joint cooperation in a way that serves the interests of peoples and countries.
Integration of roles to serve national interests
For their part, the ambassadors of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council, commending this meeting which allowed them to gain firsthand knowledge of the Council's working mechanisms and responsibilities. The ambassadors praised the Shura Council's active role in supporting Saudi diplomacy through its extensive parliamentary relations, affirming their commitment to working in close cooperation and continuous coordination to serve national interests and enhance the Kingdom's presence in international forums.
