The role of the National Center for Meteorology and the importance of weather monitoring
The National Center of Meteorology is the official body authorized to monitor weather and climate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The center aims to protect lives and property by providing early warnings about various weather phenomena, such as dust storms, heavy rain, and heat and cold waves. The center relies on a wide network of radars, advanced monitoring stations, and satellites that cover the entire Kingdom, ensuring highly accurate forecasts.
Climate diversity in the Kingdom and its impact
Saudi Arabia's vast geographical area results in a uniquely diverse climate. While coastal areas like Jeddah and Dammam are characterized by moderate to high humidity and temperatures, the central and northern regions experience greater temperature fluctuations between day and night and between seasons. The southwestern highlands, such as Abha and Al-Baha, enjoy a relatively cool and temperate climate year-round, making them popular tourist destinations.
The importance of following weather forecasts
Following daily weather forecasts is of paramount importance to several sectors, from transportation to ensure road safety, to agriculture, which relies heavily on temperature and rainfall data. This information also helps individuals plan their daily activities, especially on weekends, and choose appropriate clothing to avoid catching a cold in areas experiencing low temperatures, such as northern regions.
