The Cabinet approves the organization of the Education and Culture Committee and discusses regional issues

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, chaired the Cabinet meeting held today in the capital, Riyadh, which witnessed the issuance of a number of important decisions and a discussion of the latest political and economic developments at the local and international levels.

Intensive diplomatic efforts to promote regional stability

At the outset of the session, the Council was briefed on the diplomatic communications conducted by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with several leaders of brotherly nations, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. These communications reflect the pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in strengthening joint coordination and ensuring the security and stability of the region amidst escalating tensions, underscoring the depth of the strategic relations that bind the Kingdom to its Islamic and Arab neighbors.

A firm stance towards Yemen and Palestine

The Council discussed developments in the region, reaffirming the Kingdom's longstanding commitment to supporting the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen. In a move reflecting the Kingdom's keen interest in Yemeni unity, the Council welcomed the request by the President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council to convene a comprehensive conference in Riyadh for southern factions, with the aim of formulating just solutions to the southern issue. This initiative is a continuation of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts, from the Gulf Initiative to the Riyadh Agreement, to bridge the divide and unify the Yemeni position.

On the humanitarian front, Minister of Information Salman Al-Dossari reviewed the Kingdom's relief efforts in the Gaza Strip, noting the continuation of air, sea, and land bridges. This unlimited support stems from the Kingdom's decades-long unwavering stance in support of the Palestinian cause. Saudi Arabia is among the largest donors to the Palestinian people, affirming that Palestine remains a central issue in the hearts and minds of the Saudi leadership and people.

Digital leadership and organizing cultural work

Domestically, the Council highlighted the launch of the Hexagon data center project in Riyadh, the largest of its kind globally. This step reinforces the Kingdom's position as a global technology hub, aligning with the goals of Vision 2030, which aims to build a robust digital economy, ensure national data sovereignty, and foster innovation in artificial intelligence.

As part of its organizational decisions, the Council issued a resolution approving the establishment of the National Commission for Education, Culture and Science . This step is of paramount importance, as this commission serves as the official liaison between the Kingdom and relevant international and regional organizations (such as UNESCO, ALECSO, and ISESCO). This new structure will enhance the Kingdom's international cultural presence and contribute to the protection of national heritage and the development of the educational and cultural system in accordance with the highest global standards.

International resolutions and agreements

The council concluded its session by issuing a package of resolutions and approvals, including:

  • Approval of a headquarters agreement with the Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education.
  • Signing of Memoranda of Understanding in the fields of environment and agriculture with the Netherlands, and tourism with China and Trinidad and Tobago.
