US: Two warships crossed the Strait of Hormuz as part of mine-clearing operations

Announced U.S. Central Command CENTCOM said Saturday that two warships had crossed the Strait of Hormuz to remove mines laid by IranThis occurred amidst a temporary ceasefire in the Middle East war.
CENTCOM quoted its commander, Admiral Brad Cooper, in a statement as saying, “Today, we began the process of establishing a new route and will soon share this secure corridor with the maritime sector to encourage the free flow of commerce.”.

Opening the Strait of Hormuz

said Donald Trump on Saturday that the United States had begun “the process of opening the Strait of Hormuz,” again criticizing countries he claimed were not doing enough to secure this vital waterway, which Iran closed during the war.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, “We are now beginning the process of opening the Strait of Hormuz as a service to countries around the world, including China, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany, and others.”
He added, “Unbelievably, these countries do not have the courage or the will to do the job themselves.”
