The Board of Grievances launches the Data Governance and Artificial Intelligence 2028 project
In a strategic move reflecting the judiciary's commitment to keeping pace with the latest global technologies, the Board of Grievances in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has launched a Data Management and Governance Office project through a strategic partnership with the global firm Ernst & Young. This ambitious project aims to enhance the quality of judicial work and ensure the protection of personal data, in line with the goals of achieving global leadership in administrative justice.
During his recent inspection tour, His Excellency the President of the Board of Grievances, Dr. Ali bin Suleiman Al-Saawi, was briefed on the details of the project’s implementation plan, which is scheduled to continue its field and technical implementation until February 2028, reflecting the long-term vision for developing the judicial system.
The context of digital transformation and Vision 2030
This project is not an isolated step, but rather part of a broader digital transformation underway in Saudi Arabia under Vision 2030. The Board of Grievances has already made significant strides in recent years through its digital platform, "Moeen," which has fully digitized litigation procedures. Today's Data Governance and Artificial Intelligence project builds upon these achievements, moving from automation to artificial intelligence and big data analytics to support decision-making.
Project objectives: Data control and protection
This strategic project primarily aims to implement national data management and governance standards and controls, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements issued by the National Data Management Office. Project objectives include:
- Ensuring the safe and effective use of judicial and administrative information.
- Protecting the personal data of parties to lawsuits, which enhances trust in the digital system.
- Raising the level of data quality and classifying it with extreme precision to be a reliable basis for advanced technologies.
The use of artificial intelligence in administrative law
artificial intelligence technologies are employed within the Board of Grievances courts. This trend is expected to contribute to:
The project supports judicial decision-making centers by providing accurate and standardized analytical reports, helping judges reach rulings and expedite litigation. It will also foster data-driven technological innovation, reducing litigation timelines and increasing efficiency.
Investing in human resources
Recognizing that technology cannot function in isolation from the human element, the project's workflow places a strong emphasis on developing and training the staff working at the Board of Grievances. Employees will be equipped with the advanced skills necessary to utilize data governance tools and artificial intelligence technologies, ensuring the sustainability of the institutional data management system and its future development.
In conclusion, this step seeks to raise awareness of the importance of data within the corridors of the court, and improve the mechanisms for dealing with it in order to expedite the completion of administrative justice cases with high efficiency, thus consolidating the Kingdom’s position as a leading model in efficient justice supported by technology.
