The ministry explained that the livestock sector plays a pivotal role in supporting food security and achieving self-sufficiency, through the sustainable development and improvement of animal resources. It also contributes to strengthening the animal health system for disease prevention, noting that the sector includes more than (22) million sheep, about (7.6) million goats, more than (2.2) million camels, in addition to more than (510) thousand cattle.

The Ministry affirmed the readiness of local markets and slaughterhouses in Mecca to meet the needs of pilgrims, with an abundance of supply and high-quality local production, contributing to market stability and providing diverse options for consumers.
It also noted the continuation of its monitoring and field efforts during the Hajj season, through intensified inspection tours and field visits to public markets, slaughterhouses, and related facilities. This ensures ample supply and adherence by workers to health and technical requirements and approved regulations, guaranteeing product safety and safeguarding the health and well-being of pilgrims.
