US Defense Secretary calls on Chief of Staff to resign
has asked US Defense Secretary Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George to resign and retire immediately, according to sources familiar with the matter who spoke to CBS News.
One source said Higseth wants to appoint someone to the position who can implement both President Trump's and Higseth's vision for the military. A
senior Defense Department official told CBS News, "We are grateful for his service, but it's time for a change in leadership in the Army."
George previously served as a senior military aide to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin from 2021 to 2022, under the Biden administration, after decades of service.
