Robotics competitions kick off in Mecca

In a move reflecting the rapid technological advancements in Saudi Arabia, the fifth edition of the "Sumo and Fast Track 2026" robotics competition kicked off in Makkah. Organized and directly supervised by the General Directorate of Education in the Makkah region, the event primarily aims to develop programming and technological innovation skills among female students. This year's competition saw the participation of 39 students representing eight different schools, who competed enthusiastically through a series of complex robotics challenges demanding high precision and focus.

During the closing ceremony, the school principal, Afnan Noah, emphasized that the competition strives to cultivate a technologically proficient generation capable of meeting the challenges of the future. The ceremony featured creative presentations in Chinese, reflecting the national trend towards diversifying students' linguistic and cultural skills. The principal also expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the partners and the international trainer, Nariman Kashgari, in making this prominent technical event a success.

Crowning the winners of the top positions

At the conclusion of the challenges, which demanded high precision in programming and strategic thinking, the organizing committee crowned the champions of the various educational tracks amidst a spirited and competitive atmosphere. In the "Fast Track" competition, students Aline Aqili, Talia Rakan, and Ghazal Yamani deservedly claimed first place. In the "Sumo" challenge, Amira Al-Ansari secured first place in the secondary school category, while Ghadi Sindi excelled in the intermediate level, and Ehab Bader topped the primary school level. The events concluded with a grand celebration from the community and the educational sector, recognizing the participants' technical excellence and highlighting the promising future that relies on leveraging advanced technology to serve national development.
