The Grand Mufti of the Kingdom recommends diligence and hard work during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah
In a guiding speech on the occasion of the entry of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, His Eminence said: The Prophetic hadiths, may the best prayers and peace be upon him, indicate that righteous deeds in these days are more beloved to God Almighty than deeds in other days. Al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih from Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, who said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to God than these days.” They said: “O Messenger of God, not even jihad in the way of God?” He said: “Not even jihad in the way of God, except for a man who goes out with his life and his wealth and does not return with anything from that.”.
Doing many good deeds
He continued: During these days, Muslims should increase their good deeds, diligently performing their obligatory duties and avoiding sins. These ten days are a blessed season that God Almighty has bestowed upon His servants. God Almighty says: “And mention the name of God on appointed days over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals.” (Quran 22:28) According to the majority of scholars, these appointed days are the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.
He added: After fulfilling the obligatory duties, Muslims should increase their acts of worship, such as prayer, charity, and fasting, especially by frequently remembering God. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “So increase in them the saying of ‘La ilaha illallah’ (There is no god but God), ‘Alhamdulillah’ (All praise is due to God), and ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is the Greatest).” He also mentioned fasting on the Day of Arafah for those not performing Hajj. In the hadith narrated by Abu Qatadah al-Ansari (may God be pleased with him), the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about fasting on the Day of Arafah, and he said: “It expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year.” (Narrated by Muslim)
His Eminence added: It is important to note during these blessed days that whoever intends to offer a sacrifice should refrain from cutting their hair, nails, or skin, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) statement, as narrated by Muslim in the hadith of Umm Salamah: “When you see the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah, and one of you intends to offer a sacrifice, then let him refrain from cutting his hair and nails until he has offered the sacrifice.” In another narration: “Then let him not touch his hair or skin.” The sacrifice is of great merit, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sacrificed two white, horned rams, as narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.
His Eminence, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, asked God Almighty to guide everyone to His obedience and pleasure, and to protect our country, our leaders, and all Muslims.
