Saudi Arabia's industrial production index rose by 8.9% in 30 days

The industrial production index rose by 8.9% during February 2026, compared to the same month in 2025, supported by increased mining, quarrying and manufacturing activities, as well as water supply, sanitation and waste management, according to preliminary data issued by the General Authority for Statistics.

According to the data, on a monthly basis, the index recorded a slight decline of 0.2% compared to January 2026.

Increase in oil production

Mining and quarrying activity recorded an annual increase of 13%, as a result of increased oil production to about 10.1 million barrels per day, compared to about 8.9 million barrels per day in February of the previous year. Activity also increased on a monthly basis by 0.1%.

In contrast, the manufacturing index rose by 3.6% year-on-year, supported by growth in the manufacturing of coke and refined petroleum products, and the manufacture of chemical materials and products, while the index declined by 0.2% month-on-month.

The electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply activity recorded an annual decline of 3.7%, while the water supply, sewage, waste management and treatment activity increased by 8.1%.

At the level of major activities, the oil activities index rose by 11.5% year-on-year, compared to a growth of 2.4% for non-oil activities, while oil activities declined by 0.1% and non-oil activities by 0.4% on a monthly basis.

The industrial production index rose by 8.9% in February 2026, compared to the same month in 2025, supported by an increase in mining and quarrying activities and the manufacturing industry, along with water supply, sewage, and waste management, according to preliminary data released by the General Authority for Statistics.

According to the data, on a monthly basis, the index recorded a slight decline of 0.2% compared to January 2026.

Increase in Oil Production

Mining and quarrying activities recorded an annual increase of 13%, due to an increase in oil production to about 10.1 million barrels per day, compared to about 8.9 million barrels per day in February of the previous year, while the activity rose by 0.1% on a monthly basis.

In contrast, the manufacturing index increased by 3.6% year-on-year, supported by growth in the activities of coke and refined petroleum products manufacturing, and the chemical materials and products industry, while the index declined by 0.2% on a monthly basis.

As for the activities related to electricity, gas, steam supply, and air conditioning, they recorded an annual decline of 3.7%, while the activities related to water supply, sewage, and waste management and treatment increased by 8.1%.

At the level of main activities, the oil activities index rose by 11.5% year-on-year, compared to a growth of non-oil activities by 2.4%, while oil activities declined by 0.1% and non-oil activities by 0.4% on a monthly basis.
