Jazan: Transporter of border security violators arrested, faces severe penalties

Intensive security efforts: A smuggler of border security violators in Jazan was apprehended

As part of the ongoing efforts of Saudi security forces to protect the nation's security and stability, patrols from the General Directorate of Mujahideen in the Jazan region thwarted an attempt to smuggle several individuals who had violated border security regulations. Specifically, security forces arrested a Yemeni resident for transporting three other Yemeni nationals who had been found to be in violation of the Kingdom's border regulations.

The relevant authorities immediately initiated all necessary legal and regulatory procedures against those arrested. The violators were referred to the appropriate authorities to complete the procedures required for their deportation, while the resident involved in the transportation operation was referred to the Public Prosecution for appropriate legal and regulatory action, given the seriousness of the offense.

General context: “A nation without violators” campaigns and protecting the southern borders

This successful security operation is an extension of the comprehensive national campaigns launched by the Saudi Ministry of Interior, most notably the “A Nation Without Violators” campaign, which aims to track down and apprehend violators of residency, labor, and border security regulations. The Jazan region holds immense strategic importance due to its location on the southern border of the Kingdom, making it the first line of defense against infiltration and smuggling attempts. Historically, the Kingdom has dedicated significant technological and human resources to securing these borders, with the General Directorate of Mujahideen playing a pivotal and historic role in supporting the Border Guard and other security sectors to maintain security in the mountainous and border regions.

Impact and importance: security, economic, and social dimensions

The importance of apprehending those who violate border security regulations extends beyond mere security concerns, encompassing profound economic and social dimensions. Domestically, curbing infiltration helps eliminate the phenomenon of undocumented workers and combats commercial concealment, positively impacting the national economy and protecting job opportunities for citizens and legal residents. Regionally and internationally, the Kingdom's rigorous border protection enhances regional stability and reduces transnational crimes such as smuggling and human trafficking.

Strict and deterrent penalties for anyone who dares to compromise security

In a related context, the official spokesperson for the General Directorate of Mujahideen emphasized the seriousness of involvement in such crimes. He affirmed that anyone proven to have facilitated the entry of border security violators into the Kingdom, transported them within its borders, provided them with shelter, or offered them any form of assistance or service, will be subject to severe and rigorous penalties. These penalties include imprisonment for up to 15 years and a hefty fine that may reach one million Saudi Riyals. Furthermore, the vehicle used in the crime will be confiscated, as will the residence used for sheltering the violators, and the convicted individual will be publicly shamed in the media.

The spokesman explained that this crime is legally classified as a major crime warranting arrest, and one that violates honor and integrity, reflecting the firmness with which the state deals with everything that threatens its national security.

A call to citizens and residents: Community partnership in maintaining security

Believing in the vital role of the community in maintaining security, security authorities have called upon all citizens and residents to take the initiative and immediately report any suspicious activity related to violations of residency, labor, and border security regulations. Reports can be submitted by calling the unified number (911) in the Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions. In the rest of the Kingdom, the numbers (999) and (996) can be used. The Ministry of Interior affirms that all reports are handled with complete confidentiality and high professionalism, without imposing any legal liability on the reporter, thus embodying the principle that “the citizen is the first line of defense.”.
