Princess Nourah University launches a film projects exhibition

The university's College of Design and Arts will host the third edition of the "Frame" exhibition tomorrow, Monday. The exhibition aims to showcase the graduation projects of the third cohort of the Film and Animation program, featuring the work of approximately 26 talented female students as part of the graduation project course for the Department of Cinema and Theater Arts. The event will be held at the college premises.

Cinematic diversity reflects local identity

The exhibition, which runs until January 7, offers a rich visual experience through the screening of six short films that vary in their themes and narrative styles. The works range from fiction to drama, with a clear focus on cultural inspiration and the historical dimension of the Kingdom, presented in contemporary cinematic forms. The films on display include:

  • The film “The Gate of Najd”
  • The Last Destination movie
  • The film “Meteor Night”
  • The film “Haddaj Tayma”
  • The film “Shehana”
  • The film “Draft”

Keeping pace with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in the film sector

This exhibition is being held at a time when the Saudi film industry is experiencing rapid and unprecedented growth, supported by the goals of Vision 2030 and the Quality of Life Program, which places particular emphasis on the development of culture and the arts. The transition from amateur to professional academic practice is a crucial step in the development of Saudi cinema, with academic institutions like Princess Nourah University contributing to supplying the local market with qualified female talent possessing the necessary technical and intellectual tools to compete both locally and regionally.

The “Frame” exhibition highlights a comprehensive experience showcasing the pathways of animation and film production, showcasing the knowledge and skills acquired by the graduates. The exhibition serves as a vital platform for interaction and networking among graduates, current university students, and those interested in filmmaking, providing an opportunity to explore emerging cinematic experiences and discover promising talents capable of making a difference in the future.

In this context, Dr. Haya Al-Rashoud, Head of the Department of Cinema and Theater Arts at the College of Design and Arts at the university, explained that “the exhibition embodies the department’s orientation towards developing art education in line with the transformations taking place in the cultural and creative scene in Saudi Arabia,” noting that the projects were designed to interact with the growth of the film and animation industry and enhance the presence of local content.

Visit dates and strategic objectives

The exhibition welcomes interested visitors from all segments of society in the evening from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The morning hours on Tuesday and Wednesday (from 10 am to 1 pm) are reserved exclusively for women to view graduation projects and learn about innovative narrative and visual techniques.
