The tanker's captain reported that two vessels belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard approached the vessel 37 kilometers northeast of Oman.
According to a statement from the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the two vessels "fired on the tanker" without any prior radio warning.
The statement added that "the tanker and its crew are safe, and the authorities are investigating the incident."
